The short version
You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind about a standard piece, no reason needed. Made-to-measure pieces are excluded, because they were built to your specification and we cannot sell them to anyone else. If something arrives damaged or faulty, that is not a return — it is covered by the two-year legal warranty, and we deal with it at our cost.
1. Your right of withdrawal
As a consumer you may withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 calendar days without giving a reason. The period runs from the day you, or someone you nominate, take physical possession of the furniture. If an order is delivered in several parts, it runs from the last part.
2. How to withdraw
Tell us before the 14 days are up, in a statement that is clear and unambiguous. E-mail info@bmmeubelen.com with your order number, or post a letter to Bed Makers BV, Dendermondsesteenweg 220, 2830 Willebroek. You may use the model form at the bottom of this page, but you do not have to.
Sending the message inside the 14 days is enough — the furniture itself may come back afterwards.
3. Sending the furniture back
Return the piece within 14 days of telling us. It must be complete, undamaged, and in the condition it arrived in. Please keep the original packaging until the 14 days have passed; furniture rarely survives a second journey without it.
You bear the direct cost of returning the goods. Because furniture is bulky, that cost can be substantial and depends on the carrier you choose; we are happy to quote you for collection if you would rather we handled it.
You may unpack a piece and look at it as you would in a shop. If you go further than that and the furniture loses value as a result, we may deduct that loss from your refund.
4. Your refund
We refund the price you paid plus the standard delivery charge within 14 days of receiving your notice — although we may wait until the furniture is back with us, or until you show us it has been sent, whichever is earlier. The refund goes back by the same means you paid, and costs you nothing.
If you chose a more expensive delivery option than our standard one, we refund the standard rate.
5. What is excluded
- Made-to-measure and personalised furniture. Anything built to dimensions, materials or a finish you specified is excluded by Article VI.53, 3° of the Belgian Code of Economic Law. This is the trade-off for having a piece made only for you, and we set it out again in every quote before you approve it.
- Goods bought by a business rather than a consumer.
6. If something is damaged or faulty
This is separate from the right of withdrawal and is not limited to 14 days.
Visible transport damage — tell us within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs, so we can take it up with the carrier.
A fault in the furniture — you have a two-year legal warranty of conformity. We repair or replace the piece free of charge, including collection and redelivery. Where that is impossible or out of proportion, you may ask for a price reduction or a refund.
